Class 20(ii) In a scaffold construction having two stirrups engaged by their middle parts and having clamps at the outer ends, one or both stirrups, 33, Fig. 1, have a middle portion adapted to accommodate an angle iron 32 on a tube 50, and the wing portions 43 are bent back to form arcuate hinging means for the clamps 46. The other stirrups may be of the same form, but in Figs. 1 and 2 this stirrup 34 has turned back ends to accommodate the heads of bolts 37 for a strap 35 clamping the tube in the stirrup 34. The ends of the wings 43 of the stirrup 33 bear on the tube 31. In a further modification, Fig. 3, (not shown), the straps 46 are replaced by a V-shaped strap and clamping bolts passing through slots in the wings 43 of the stirrup 33. An arrangement is described, Fig. 5, (not shown), in which two angle iron bars at right angles are clamped to a tube by means of two stirrups 33 with clamps 46, the two stirrups co-operating with a stirrup having two seats at right-angles and clamped to the tube. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, comprises also a scaffold clamp having two stirrups 1, 2, Fig. 1, (Cancelled), and engaged by the inner faces of their middle parts and having clamps 11 hinged on their free ends. Each clamp has a rounded end 13 engaging in a curved wing 6 on the stirrups and these parts are assembled by passing the wing 6 through a slot in the clamp 11, which is adapted to be clamped on to a scaffold tube by a bolt 21 projecting through a slot in a wing 7 of the stirrup. In a modification, Fig. 5 (Cancelled) (not shown), a stirrup has a flat wing carrying a pivot 25 bearing inclined faces engaging the wings on the stirrup and clamps to produce a clamping action. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
