674,784. Quinine-penicillin injection. LABORATOIRES FRANCAIS DE CHIIIIOTHERAPIE. April 18, 1950 [May 25, 1949], No. 9518/50. Class 81 (i). A pharmaceutical preparation in the form of a solution made up immediately before use, is obtained by dissolving a penicillin salt in a solution of quinine or like alkaloidal salt in a watermiscible injectable organic solvent such as propylene glycol, containing 30 to 40 per cent by volume of water, said preparation being capable of forming in vivo a quinine or like alkaloid penicillin having a prolonged therapeutic effect. The preferred quinine salt is the formate; salts of other quinine alkaloids e.g. quinidine, cinchonine, cinchonidine and cupreine may be used which have a basic structure of An anµsthetic such as butyl p-amino benzoate may be added.
