Abstract

Dyes are made by acylating one mol. of a monoaminoacedianthrone and one mol. of an amino derivative of another vattable compound with a dicarboxylic acid or an acylating derivative thereof. The products dye and print cotton brown shades. In examples, terephthaloyl chloride is reacted with aminoacedianthrone (obtained by reducing the body obtained by nitrating acedianthrone in sulphuric acid) and also with (1) 1-aminoanthraquinone; (2) 1 - amino - 4 - or 5 - benzoylaminoanthraquinone; (3) 8 - amino - 11.21 - phthaloyl - 51.61-benzcarbazole; (4) 6-amino-31.41-phthaloylacridone. Also in examples: (5) oxalyl chloride, and (6) isophthaloyl chloride are each condensed with one mol. each of 1-aminoanthraquinone and aminoacedianthrone. 8 - Amino - 11.21 - phthaloyl - 51.61 - benzcarbazole is obtained by cyclizing 1-benzoylamino - 5 - b - naphthylaminoanthraquinone in sulphuric acid, and hydrolysing the benzoylamino group. Specification 441,049 is referred to, and Specifications 369,765 and 410,552 also are referred to in the Provisional Specification.
