Abstract

Acid dyestuffs giving blue to green shades on wool or acetyl silk are obtained by condensing 4 : 8-dihalogenanthrarufin with two molecules of an aminobenzoic acid, or by condensing 4 : 8-dinitro-1 : 5-dichloranthraquinone with two molecules of an aminobenzoic acid and reducing the nitro groups of the product. According to examples:-4 : 8-dichloranthrarufin is condensed with anthranilic acid in nitrobenzene in the presence of sodium carbonate and copper powder; 4 : 8-dinitro-1 : 5-dichloranthraquinone is condensed similarly with anthranilic acid, and the nitro groups of the product reduced with sodium sulphide; a product dyeing greener shades is obtained by effecting the condensation at a higher temperature; a green dye is also obtained by replacing one nitro group of the intermediate product by the aniline residue and then reducing the remaining nitro group. Specifications 26182/03, 13907/09, 25184/10, and 207,711, are referred to.ALSO:Acetyl silk is dyed blue to green shades with hot acid dyestuffs obtained by condensing 4 : 8-dihalogenanthrarufin with two molecules of an aminobenzoic acid, or by condensing 4 : -dinitro-1 : 5-dichloranthaaquinone with two molecules of an aminobenzoic acid and reducing the nitro groups of the product; or one of the nitro groups in the intermediate product is replaced by the aniline residue and the remaining nitro group reduced.
