672,620. Magnetic compasses. HANSSEN, H. A. Nov. 24, 1950, No. 28854/50. Class 97 (ii). A domed lens 1 for a liquid-filled compass has a bottom 2 or a bottom member and is so secured to the compass that the bottom 2 or bottom member is situated above the compass dial and prevents it jumping off its pivot. The dome and bottom may be made of thermoplastic material welded together, the bottom having an aperture 3 and two apertures 4 for inserting and draining liquid.. In a modification a ring having spider arms is secured to the dome edge, instead of the bottom 2. A selfluminous substance may be placed between the flange of the dome and the bottom or ring.
