Abstract
672,045. Supply meters. MEASUREMENT, Ltd. Jan. 4, 1951 [Jan. 30, 1950], No. 2334/50. Class 37. [Also in Group XXXVII] In a polyphase electricity meter, Fig. 2, a voltage-coil fault detector lamp d is connected between the star point e of -the voltage coils a, b, c and the neutral line N. In the event of an open-circuited voltage coil the lamp d will light up responsively to an out-of-balance. current flow between the star point e and neutral line N. To test the. continuity of lamp d a push-button is operated to close. contacts g and open contacts f whereby voltage coil c is transferred from the star point e to the neutral N and the lamp d if sound will then light up responsively to the vector sum of the currents in coils a and b. In a modification, Fig. 1, the continuity of the lamp d is tested by utilizing a dummy impedance z and a pushbutton s across one of the coils. A protective resistor r is incorporated in parallel with the lamp d as shown, Fig. 1.
