Abstract

672,010. Metal grid resistances; combinations and sets of two or more resistances; mountings for resistances. RHEOSTATIC CO., Ltd. Dec. 12, 1950, No. 30374/50. Class 37. In a resistance bank, Fig. 3, metal tie-rods 8, 9 threaded with ceramic interlocking bobbins 10, 11 are flanked on each side, Fig. 4, with a group or grid of resistance strips individually of flat S-formation, Fig. 1. Each resistance strip welded to its neighbour at tapping points 17, Fig. 3, is secured by means of a support strip 7, Fig. 2, a hole 15 in which, as exemplified in Fig. 4, is occupied by the projecting part 13 of the corresponding ceramic bobbin 10. The flanges 12 on the ceramic bobbins 10, 11 engage. the strip turns as at 18, Fig. 4, to give support against vibration. The assembly, Fig. 3, may be detachably mounted with other similar assemblies in a flanged resistance frame by means of a cranked strip joining the two tierods, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown).
