Abstract

671,903. Saddle supports. MASSON, E. P. Sept. 1, 1950 [Sept. 8, 1949], No. 21673/50. Class 136(iii) In a bicycle saddle pillar 5 which is adjustable in height during travel and is slidable under the action of a spring 7 in a fixed housing 3 secured in the tubular frame 1 of a bicycle, the pillar is formed with an elongated longitudinal slot 10-12 which passes completely through it and a bolt 8 co-operates with the housing 3 and passes completely through the slot in the pillar, the bolt carrying locking means for fixing the saddle pillar at the required height. The slot 10 has a series of laterally extending notches 11 spaced along its length. Projections 13 on the bolt engage with the notches for locking the pillar. The housing 3 has slots 14, 16, the slot 14 being formed with notches 15 for the passage of the projections 13 of the bolt. The projections 13 are held in the slots by a spring 9 and released by a flexible transmission 17 controlled from the cycle handle bar.
