Class 46 A filter for example for filtering coffee or the like comprises a moving piston dividing a container j, Fig. 1, into two compartments in which the piston consists of a disc a, Fig. 4, provided with radial slits d (e.g. by a stamping process) and with an annular grooved flange b in which is mounted a helical spring c capable of being radially compressed by the inner wall of the container j. Small apertures e may be provided in the peripheral part of the disc. In Fig. 3 the groove for the spring c is formed between the peripheral part g of the disc and members h, i, welded thereto to form a channel member. All three parts forming 'the channel member may be provided with apertures e. Specification 448.883 is referred to.
