671,084. Making heat-exchangers. COX, R. D. QUINTON-, and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Dec. 1, 1950 [Dec. 2, 1949], No. 31034/49. Class 83 (ii). [Also in Group XIII] Interfitting ferrule-like elements 2, Fig. 1, for making tubular heat-exchangers are made by forming a blank to a dish shape, Fig. 2, with the base divided into stepped areas 6 integral with vertical faces 7 which form secondary surface fins integral with the side wall 5 when the stepped areas 6 are removed. In a modification fins 9, Fig. 4, are parallel and transverse. The elements 2 are finally fitted one within the other and are brazed, soldered &c. together as in Fig. 1.
