[Class 64 (iii) ] To' increase the rate of heat transmission through the walls of a flat. fluid-conducting element, the element is provided with pin-fins 10 arranged perpendicular to the flow of fluid across the element. The pin-fins may extend across the space between the walls 12, 13 of the element as shown, or they may be provided only on the external surfaces of the walls, in which case the walls are provided with depressions into which the pin-fins are secured.
