A sealed liquid-cooled electrical apparatus contained within a tank 1 having a top cover 3 in the shape of an inverted dish is provided with a demountable seal-between flanges 2, 4- between the top cover and the tank below the level of the liquid when cold. Tap changing apparatus may be incorporated and placed inside the tank, operation thereof being effected by means of a shaft 9 extending through a hollow tube 10, welded or otherwise secured to the cover 3, having sealing glands 11, 12 below and above the cold liquid level respectively.
