Abstract

668,938. Roller skates. UNION HARDWARE CO. Feb. 7, 1950, No. 3135/50. Class 132 (i). A roller skate comprising a light metal alloy foot plate 14 with a longitudinal reinforcing beam 15 and four longitudinally aligned bosses 16, 17; 18, 19, one pair near each end, has two wheel carriers, each carrier being supported by an adjustable member 39, 39' screwed into one boss with a resilient buffer 41, 41' interposed and a second adjustable member 27, 27' having a bearing surface which is pivotally engaged by a stud 31, 33' mounted in the other boss of each pair to permit of lateral tilting of the foot plate relative to the wheel carriers. The beam 15 may be of V-section and arched downwardly between bosses 17 and 18. The studs 31, 33' may be ball-ended and engage concave sockets of appreciably greater radius of curvature at the ends of members 27, 27<SP>1</SP>. A modified foot plate is described having clamping means for detachably securing the skates to boots.
