Abstract
An austenitic nickel-chromium steel alloy has the following composition :-C 0.08-1.0 per cent, Si 0.1-2.0 per cent, Mn 0.1-5.0 per cent, Ni 5.0-30.0 per cent, Cr 5.0-14.0 per cent, W or, Mo or both 0.05-15.0 per cent, Nb or Ta or both 0.25-15.0 per cent, Co 3.0-20.0 per cent, V 0-10.0 per cent, Ti 0-3.0 per cent, N 0-0.3 per cent, Cu 0-6.0 per cent, B 0.001-0.5 per cent, Fe not less than 33.0 per cent and constituting, with impurities, the balance. The Provisional Specification describes also alloys in which the Fe content exceeds 30 per cent.
