Abstract
667,562. Gas turbine plant. PARSONS & CO., Ltd., C. A., and DAVEY, W. P. July 7, 1948. [Aug. 29, 1947] No. 23998/47. Class 110(iii). [Also in Group XIII] In an open circuit plant employing inter coolers and waste heat exchangers the intercooling liquid is mixed with the liquid heated in the heat exchangers to obtain the desired temperature of supply to the central heating or other system to which the liquids are fed. The H.P. turbine m drives a compressor n, and an alternator o and exciter p. The L.P. turbine e<SP>1</SP> drives compressors i, j. The compressed air is heated by exhaust gases from the L.P. turbine in preheaters d before passing to the combustion chamber q. Intercoolers c are provided between the compressors and a reheat chamber a is arranged between the turbines. The preheaters exhaust to waste heat exchangers e. A further combustion chamber may be provided for reheating the exhaust gases from the turbine. The return from the central heating system flows through the chemical treatment tank r and heat exchangers e to a mixing tank f from which the central heating system is supplied. Water from the tank r flows through the cooling tower t and intercoolers c to the mixing tank. Pumps g, x, q, z byepass connections s, v, w, and byepass valves 2 are provided. The Provisional Specification refers to heat exchangers arranged in series with intercoolers.
