Abstract

666,875. Bobbins. WELLBY, G. S., and MECHELEN, E. P. VAN. Aug. 24, 1949 [Oct. 15, 1948], No. 26920/48. Class 120(iii) A bobbin of the kind having a central bore extending up through an enlarged conical base portion for receiving a driving spindle, the end face of which base portion is provided with a cross slot for receiving a key on the spindle, comprises a hollow metal shell 9, 10, having an open enlarged conical end, a disc 11 closing said open end, a tubular tie member 21. connected between said disc and the other end of the shell so as to hold said disc in place and which provides said bore for the driving spindle, which disc and/or tie member is or are shaped to provide said cross slot, and means, which may be a slot 14 on the disc.11 and a tongue 15 on the inner face of the base portion of the shell 9, for preventing relative rotation between said disc and shell. Hollow bosses 16 and 19 may be provided on the disc 11 and on the inside of the end 20 of the shell to receive the ends of the tie member 21. The bores of said bosses may be conical such that the ends of the tie member can be expanded therein. Replaceable bushes 22 and 23 may be provided so that the bobbin can be used on different size spindles.
