Abstract

666,429. Linkwork. LOFSTRAND, A. R. April 26, 1949, No. 11122/49. Class 80 (iii). [Also in Group XXXII] A variable leverage is provided between the two ends of a cable 26 by passing the cable over the periphery of a spirally formed plate 11 and a circular pulley 12 secured thereto. The cable lies in a groove 18 of the plate 11 and passes round into a recessed portion 16 thereof and thence along grooves 21, 20 on one side of the plate, through a hole 19 therein and then along a groove 22 on the other side of the plate onto a guide block 14 secured thereto by bolts 24. The cable then passes around this block and into the peripheral groove of the pulley 12. Rotation of the pulley clockwise with movement of the right hand end of cable 26 downwards results in an increasing leverage on this side whilst the left hand end of the cable is raised with a constant leverage. The device is applicable to balancing against spring tension on elevating device of a glassware washing machine as described in Specification 666,427, [Group XXIII].
