Abstract

Silica-magnesia catalysts of improved attrition resistance and steam and thermal stability are obtained by preparing a silica-magnesia hydrogel by any known method and, after drying, treating the hydrogel in the presence of water at 100-200 DEG F for at least six hours. The catalysts are useful for cracking hydrocarbons and may be employed with the fluidized technique.
