Abstract
Catalysts comprising Co or Ni on activated charcoal which have lost their activity in the conversion of olefins to linear polymers are revivified by heating at 200-1000 DEG C, cooling and impregnating with an aqueous solution of an acid and a heat decomposable cobalt or nickel salt and finally isolating the impregnated material. The catalyst may be heated at 200-1000 DEG C in a carrier gas, e.g. H2N2 or steam. After regeneration the catalyst may have a surface area of 850-900 m2/gm.
