Abstract

666,282. Bakers' &c. ovens. VICARS, Ltd., T. & T., and NAYLOR, J. F. April 25, 1950 [April 28, 1949], No. 11278/49. Classes 51 (i) and 51 (ii). In a heating system for bakers' ovens and the like in which gaseous heating medium flows in a closed circuit the ducts carrying the medium are of metal and include a plurality of parallel passages in which dampers are disposed. As shown, a closed circulation heating system is provided in a long bakers' oven 11 through which ware passes on an endless conveyer 12. The heating medium, controlled by the fan 16, passes through ducts 14, 15, each of which is comprised of a plurality of cast sections similar to that shown in Fig. 2, small gaps 22 being left between the sections for expansion purposes. Each duct 14, 15 has three parallel passages similar to 14a, 14b, 14c, shown, and at intervals sets of dampers similar to 25, 26, 27, are provided, being disposed preferably just prior to a heating means 20 in the direction of gaseous flow. The dampers are relatively staggered and are supported on spindles similar to 28, 29, 30 each of which is journalled at one end in the passage wall associated with its damper and at the other end passes from the ducting through spacing bushes 31, 32, 33, to the outer wall of the oven. The protruding ends of the spindles are provided with handles 28a, 29a, 30a, comprising spring-loaded studs 28b, 29b, 30b which engage recesses in the oven wall marked to indicate the angular position of the damper within the passage. The facial area of each damper is substantially equal to the crosssectional area of the passage in which it is disposed and to prevent complete closure of the passage the damper is prevented from taking up a vertical position by a stop on the oven wall coacting with the adjusting handle. The bottom surfaces of ducting 14 and upper surfaces of ducting 15 are provided with heat radiating corrugations 35.
