A wrapping-machine includes a continuously rotated wrapping wheel provided with a multiplicity of circumferentially spaced pockets in its periphery together with an article delivery shcot and means to supply a wrapper across a wrapping wheel pocket disposed for reception of the article to be wrapped. Articles C to be wrapped are fed by a conveyer belt 33 over a delivery wheel 30 into a shoot 35 from which they drop singly to oscillating transfer means 37 which carries each article to a circumferential pocket 23 of a continuously rotated wrapping wheel 21, formed of two spaced wheel members 22 and thrusts the article, together with a wrapper cut from a strip W fed into the path of the article, into the pocket. The transfer means 37 is oscillated by a rotary cam 39 and has a head portion 49 on which is integrally formed an impeller member 50. Slidably mounted on said head 49 below the impeller 50 is a platform plate 54 whose bifurcated rear end engages longitudinal side grooves 53 in the head and whose front end is adapted to support the article C to be carried between side lugs 56 thereon, the impeller member 50, and spring-pressed gripper jaws 60 pivoted on said platform plate, Fig. 2. As the transfer means approaches the pocket 23 in the wrapping wheel the supporting plate 54 is halted by the contact of lugs 66 thereon with stops 67, the impeller member 50 however continues to move forward with the transfer means 37 and cam faces 65 on the jaws 60 contact the moving head 49 to open the jaws and allow the impeller member to push the article, and the wrapper W which has been pressed thereagainst by a yieldable member 72, into the pocket 23 where it is held by a spring-pressed jaw 27, Fig. 5. The trailing longitudinal flap f is then folded down on the face of the article by a folding blade 76, Fig. 1, carried by a camoperated pivoted arm 77, then, consequent upon the rotation of the wrapping wheel the forward longitudinal flap f<SP>1</SP> is engaged by a folding member 81, which folds it down on to the folded flap f. The trailing side flaps are then tucked inwards by tucker fingers 83 carried by rotating arms 82, Figs. 1, 9, and the extending trailing portions of the side flaps then folded against the ends of the article by folding fingers 84, also carried by the arms 82. The leading sides of the wrapper ends are then folded across on to the end faces of the article by their engagement with folding plates 85 and the outwardly projecting parts of the thus folded side flaps folded against the outer face of the article by a circumferential plow member 88, to be sealed by contact with a heated sealing iron 91. By this time the wrapped article has been carried to a position adjacent a discharge channel 96 into which it is ejected by a cam oscillated member 94 extending between the wrapping wheel members 22.
