Abstract
665,501. Paint scrapers. EDWARDS, B. A. March 20, 1950 [June 17, 1949], No. 16217/49. Classes 61 (i) and 61 (ii). [Also in Group XI] In a chisel knife paint scraper comprising a handle and blade com)- bined with a burner connected to a remote source of combustible gas, the flame and the working edge are exposed to the view of the operator and the flame is kept clear of the blade in use. A bent Bunsen burner tube 1, Fig. 1, is led through and secured to the scraper blade 3, one end of the tube being deformed to form a nozzle. The other end of the tube carries a rotatable ported sleeve valve 7 and is attached to a unit 9 carrying the control valve 10. Suitable dimensions for the burner and nozzle are given. In a modification, Fig. 3, a detachable burner 18 and blade 3 are screw threadly connected to a junction piece 16 fixed to the handle 17 and burner tube 15. The blade may have a reduced shank slidably fixed in position in or on a friction guideway or by clamping means. In another modification the burner is led through a passage in the handle. A shield for the root of the flame may be provided. Blades of other shape are described.
