[Also in Group XXV] Packing means for a workholder comprises a base C, a top-piece A, and a set of intermediate pieces B of varying thicknesses, the parts A, B having cylindrical projections A', B<SP>4</SP> formed. with lateral projections A2, B<SP>5</SP> adapted to pass through slots in circular holes formed in the engaging parts B, C respectively, the holes being under-cut to receive the lateral projections A2, B<SP>5</SP> and the undersides of the under-cut portions being formed with helical surfaces. The arrangement is such that the engaging parts are looked together when they are turned relatively to one another. A magnet may be cast or fitted in the base C to enable it to be used on an inclined plane and the top piece A may be fitted with an axial adjusting screw D, the head surface of which acts as a bearing surface in the packing for obtaining a fine adjustment.
