663,994. Sliding doors. ALDAM, D. G., and HILL, ALDAM & CO., Ltd., E. Aug. 10, 1950 [Aug. 17, 1949], No. 21410/49. Class 20(iii) To enable the track and runner mechanism of a horizontally sliding door to be easily removed for servicing, the track supporting member is releasably secured to a shield attached to the door lintel by interlocking means located at the associated ends of the track member and shield and arranged so that they can be separated by an endways movement of the track relative to the shield. In the form shown, a channel section shield 1 is secured in the door lintel by protruding transverse bars 7 and 23 which pass across the channel. An angle section track supporting member 10, 11 is carried in the shield with its horizontal flange 10 parallel to the top thereof, extending tongues 9 at each end of flange 10 resting on the bars 7. Lateral movement of the track member is prevented by a screw 26 which secures flange 10 to the shield, the screw being accessible from the door opening. A substantially C-section track 12 is secured to the vertical flange 11 of the supporting member, the limbs being formed to provide races in which engage ball bearings 13 fitted in a cage 14 carried at the ends of L-shaped brackets 15 to which the door 2 is secured. When the mechanism is to be serviced, the door is removed and the screw 26 unfastened. The track is then released by moving it first to the left to release the right-hand tongue 9 from its bar 7 and then to the right to withdraw the track from the shield 1.
