Abstract
663,914. Endothermic reactions, catalytic processes, effecting reactions by radiations. ANGLO-IRANIAN OIL CO., Ltd., and HOWES, D. A. Oct. 29, 1948 [Sept. 29, 1947], No. 26327/47. Class 1(i) The heat requirement of an endothermic reaction is supplied by the application of a high-frequency alternating electric field to a dielectric having a high dielectric loss factor positioned in the reaction zones. The reaction may be catalytic or non- catalytic and the catalyst, e.g. molybdenum or chromium oxides on an alumina base, sulphuric acid or syrupy phosphoric acid, may comprise the dielectric. Specified reactions are the hydroforming of mineral oils and the production of ethylene by the dehydrogenation of ethyl alcohol.
