Abstract
522,409. Catalytic agents. MOND, A. L. (Universal Oil Products Co.). Nov. 25, 1938, No. 34431. [Class 1 (i)] Catalysts suitable for hydrocarbon conversion reactions are made by mixing precipitated hydrated alumina and precipitated hydrated silica, each completely free from combined and adsorbed alkali metal ions, drying and calcining the mixture. The hydrated oxides may be separately precipitated and purified and then mixed, or the purified silica precipitate may be suspended in an aluminium salt solution and ammonia added to precipitate alumina, or purified alumina precipitate may be boiled with a silica hydrogel. The removal of alkali metal ions from the hydrated silica may be effected by washing with an acid, an ammonium salt solution, or an aluminium salt solution.
