Abstract
1465617 Hydrotreating oils ATLANTIC RICHFIELD CO 10 June 1974 [12 June 1973] 25661/74 Heading C5E [Also in Division B1] Substantially hydrocarbon feedstocks are hydrotreated by contact, in the presence of hydrogen, with catalysts prepared by contacting hydrous alumina in an aqueous medium with a phosphorus acid or a compound which is converted to a phosphorus acid by reaction with water, calcining the phosphorus-containing hydrous alumina, contacting the calcined alumina with at least one compound of a Group VIA and/or VIII metal and calcining the metal-containing material. The hydrotreating which may be to remove sulphur and/or nitrogen may be at 650-900‹ F., 300-5000 p.s.i., WHSV of 0À5-4 and an H 2 flow rate of 300-5000 SCFB. The catalysts may be reduced before use.
