663,488. Vehicle brakes. LEES, T. June 8, 1960 [June 20, 1949], No. 16300/49. Class 103 (i). A vehicle wheel having a tyre flange and a brake drum is provided with an annular disc, or a series of strips of sheet metal or other suitable materials secured, as by screwing, welding or other means to the outer surface of the brake drum, at a point not more than half-way from its free end, such sheet metal parts being caused to touch the inner surface of the tyre flange or tyre which is concentric with the brake drum, whereby vibrations produced in the brake drum on application of the brakes are damped. In the embodiment shown a plurality of strips g are riveted to a band f which encircles and is clamped to the drum d, the strips being bent so that their tails h touch the inner surface of the tyre flange a of the vehicle wheel.
