Abstract

663,361. Making pens. MARTIN, H. G. Jan. 1, 1947 [June 21, 1946], No. 18711/46. Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv). [Also in Group XV] Caulking.-The writing point of a ballended pen is made by forming a ball receiving cavity 5 in the nib 1, inserting a spherical former 10 into the cavity, closing over the lip 4 of the cavity by peening and forcing out the former 10 by a rod 11 and reinserting the former or a writing ball. The ball may be inserted and ejected a number of times until the force required for its ejection is constant. The ball may be etched and the nib hardened by nitriding &c. Specification 609,817 is referred to.
