Class 81 (ii) In an apparatus, for inducing respiration by tilting, which comprises a stretcher pivotally mounted upon a supporting structure, the human body lying prone thereon is held by straps coupled to the stretcher mounting means. As shown the stretcher is pivotally mounted upon a supporting structure comprising four legs and an axle rod, on which are pivotally mounted two clips or stretcher connectors. The legs are connected in pairs such as 10, 11, by cross members such as 12, braces formed by bars 33, 34 preventing collapse of the structure when erected. Eye fittings such as 16, 17, are fitted to the legs, such fittings on the corresponding legs of each pair being overlapped and an axle bar 18 mounted in them. At each end of the axle 18 are mounted stretcher connectors 19, 20, depending lugs 21, 22 being separated sufficiently to receive between them the eye fittings on legs 10, 15 and perforated to receive the axle. Each connector has a channel to receive a longitudinal member a, b of the stretcher, the channel being formed by inner and outer flanges 23, 24. Two spurs 28, for engaging the members a, b of the stretcher to prevent endwise displacement or tilting of the apparatus, project upwards from the base of each channel. A pointer 37 for indicating the vertical with respect to the supporting structure is provided with a weighted arm 41 and is attached to the axle 18 by the screw 40, rotation of the axle being prevented by clamping it to an eye fitting of one of the legs. The angle of inclination of the stretcher is measured by the pointer 37 and numerals " 3," " 4," " 5 " formed on the flange 24 of connector 19. The body on the stretcher is held in position by adjustable straps 43, 44 and hooks 46 which are attached to the connectors 19, 20 by the inclined slots 25, 26 formed in each of the flanges 24.
