Abstract
A resistance bar for electrical heating produced by compressing and sintering a mixture of finely comminuted components consisting essentially of one or both of the elements tungsten and molybdenum and at least one oxide with a melting point above 1,500 DEG C the total amount of oxide or oxides being at least 10 per cent by weight of the whole but insufficient to destroy the metallic nature of the sintered product, e.g. up to 45 per cent by weight of the whole. The oxide component may be zirconia and/or silica.
