Abstract

661,602. Centrifugal moulding of concrete pipes &c. FEJMERT, E. V. April 28, 1949, No. 11283/49. Class 87(ii) The rotations of the mould 3 feed tube 11, and feed screw 21 are controlled by cams on a shaft 10. In a modification the screw 21 may be replaced by a screw which moves the feed tube out of the mould to allow it to be refilled. A brake (not shown) may also be controllec by cams on the shaft. The mould is supported in a carrier 2, mounted at its ends in bearings and rotated by a motor 4 through V-belts. Rotation of the mould is controlled by a clutch 5 operated by a cam 9. Beams 18a (b), see also Fig. 2 (not shown), cause a driven shaft 15 to rotate the tube 11 through 180 degrees to allow material in the tube to be deposited through a slit therein in to the mould. The tube is then moved back through the same arc. A lever 26, fixed to the tube 11 and to rods 27a (b), which are fixed to the lower ends of rocker arms 17a (b), engaged by the cams 18a (b), ensures that the tube is brought to rest with the slit in the desired position. This position may be adjusted by a screw device connecting the rods 27a (b). The screw 21 may be reversed to feed excess material back to the hopper 20, A gear 22 controlled by a cam, see Fig. 2, on the shaft 10 drives the screw 21.
