661,547. Heating by chemical action MICHAELS, B., and MICHAELS, H. P. Jan. 16, 1950 [Nov. 21, 1949], No. 29749/49. Class 64(ii) Heat for use in hair waving is generated by chemical action between bichloride of mercury, salt (sodium chloride) and hydrogen peroxide, with which an absorbent sheet 3 is impregnated, and a pair of foil leaves 1, 2, e.g. of aluminium, which enclose the sheet. The device is activated by moistening of the sheet 3 with hydrogen peroxide before placing between the metal leaves which may be stapled to backing sheets of paper 4 or constitute one folded foil sheet 'stuck to the backing sheets. Table salt or salt crystallized from sea water is used in the chemical mixture.
