Abstract

Non aqueous, liquid organic coating compositions are sprayed by atomizing them by means of steam superheated to 10 to 60 DEG F, the composition comprising a substantially water insoluble organic film-forming material and a substantially water immiscible solvent therefor. Compositions mentioned include nitrocellulose lacquers, oil modified alkyd resins, oleo resinous varnishes, water-insoluble vinyl or vinylidene resins, and urea-formaldehyde and phenol-formaldehyde resins. The steam takes the place of air in any conventional spray gun.
