Abstract

659,519. Stoppers. OLIVEIRA, G. P. DE. May 19, 1949, No. 13410. Convention date, March 14. [Class 125(iii)] A vacuum flask having a protective container 13 has a heat insulating- stopper which is adjustable in length and which is adapted to be pressed into sealing relation with the neck 14 of the flask when a closing cup member 12 is screwed onto the container 13. The stopper comprises an internal hollow cylindrical member 8 having a solid upper portion 9 and an external thread 10 which screws into the corresponding internal thread 5 of a hollow cylindrical outer stopper member 1 to form an air insulating chamber a. The member 1 has an upper flange 3 and a closed lower end. An annular recess 6 formed beneath the flange 3 on the member 1 accommodates a sealing gasket 7. The length of stopper required for a particular type of flask is determined by a threaded ring 11, washers being inserted if desired between it and the portion 9.
