Abstract

659,343. Mattresses. TEMPRET PRODUCTS, Inc. April 25, 1949, No. 10888. Convention date, Jan. 18. [Class 52 (iv)] [Also in Group XI] An electric heating cable 23 comprising resistance wire bound on a flexible core and sheathed in vinyl chloride plastic is laced at regular intervals in regularly spaced reversing rows through a flexible muslin sheet 22 secured at its edges to a mattress. The sheet 22 is placed on a soft fibre pad 20 resting on a hard fibre pad 17 lying on a wire grid 16 of parallel wires supported by an inner spring unit comprising coil springs 13 laced together by wires 14 in a border frame 15. The edges of the pad 17 are turned over the frame 15 and secured by staples 19. A quilted cover having a soft fibre pad 40 with an undersheet 41 and a covering sheet 42 lies on and is loosely sewn at 44 to the edges of the heating sheet 22. The pad 40 extends beyond the mattress surface to form a padded boxing.
