Abstract

634,630. Spring upholstery. TOMS, Ltd., W. S., and TOMS, W. A. March 31, 1948, No. 9047. [Class 52 (iv)] In a reversible mattress or cushion an interior spring assembly has upper and lower layers a of sponge rubber or like material peripherally attached to the assembly, the whole being enclosed by a cover with ventilated sides. Preferably the rubber layers have channelled edges e which engage the end turns of the peripheral springs and lacing cords may be passed through holes in the layers and in the flanges of the channels to prevent relative movement of the assembly. Tabs j may be moulded to the inner faces of the layers to receive tufting ties j<SP>1</SP>. The springs may be pocketed and the inner faces of the layers may be lined with fabric or rubber sheet.
