Abstract

540,514. Upholstery. CROWN BEDDING CO., Ltd., and WALLIS, L. S. Aug. 14, 1940. No. 12978. [Class 52 (iv)] A pad or cushion for upholstery purposes which may be used in conjunction with a spring centre comprises a filling of padding material e and an enclosing textile covering c, g which is impregnated with rubber or other adhesive so that its adhers either over the whole or parts of the padding. The pad is formed by placing a layer of fabric c in a mould, inserting one or more layers of padding e, h and covering with a layer of fabric g. The layers c, g are impregnated with latex or other adhesive and the edges d, h forced together by pressure and, where rubber is used, the adhesive is vulcanised. A spring centre comprising parallel springs connected by clips may be placed on the pad and the united edges d, h of the fabric turned over to hold the end coils of the spring. Specifications 341,936 and 355,004 are referred to.
