658,861. Boxes for vegetables. BRADSTREET & SONS, Ltd., E. J. Feb. 9, 1949, No. 3559. [Class 18] A cardboard box comprises a wall-forming frame 1 of preferably two cardboard sheets joined by staples 3 and creased for folding flat at the corners 4 ... 7. Cross strips 11, creased at 13 are secured to the frame 1 by staples 12 and a partition extending beyond the frame to form a handle 18 is stapled mid-way between the ends by flaps 15 hinged by creases 17 to said partition. Two panels 19 are stapled to the bottom of the partition by hinged flaps 21 and lie over the strips 11 to form the box bottom, and carry hinged flaps 23 which lie inside upturned marginal portions at the bottoms of the end portion of the frame. The box may be collapsed by swinging the panel up against the partition whereupon the frame is folded flat with the panels, partition and straps lying flat inside. The hinges may be formed by a known method of reinforced creasing. A lid may be provided and the partition may be cut away to accommodate longer articles, e.g. rhubarb.
