[Classes 52 (ii) and 52 (iii)] Relates to a number of collapsable furniture units which may be transported in flat state and, by the use of different units different articles of furniture such as a chair, seat, cot, bed, playpen, table, clothes horse, stool, &c. may be produced. Fig. 4 shows a unit A comprising a collapsable chair having side members 23, flexible seat 31, front and rear legs 27, 24 pivoted to side frames, back frame 30 pivoted to side frames 23, a frame 45, 46 pivoted to front legs and adapted to engage a pair of selected slots 47 to adjust the back and stays 35, 40 for the legs. The chair back may be swung downwardly into horizontal position and combined with a seat C, Fig. 9, and a bed end D to form a bed. The seat C comprises side frames 64 connected by a cross member 68, and a cranked member 69, 70, pivoted legs 65 and stays 73 while the bed end D comprises a pair of uprights 56 connected by cross members 57, 58 and a flexible panel 60 together with pivoted stays 61. If desired the seat unit C may be omitted in forming a cot from the units A, D. Another unit comprises a clothes horse having a back frame X Fig. 13 and two side frames Y and this unit with the bed end unit D and the seat unit C may form a child's cot or if the units X, Y and D are upended and the unit C omitted it may serve as a playpen. A stool unit B, Fig. 2, comprises pivoted crossed side frames 13 connected by top and bottom members 15, 16, a detachable flexible top 17 having end cross members 19 which as shown engage abutments 20 on the legs 13 when in use as a seating stool. When it is desired to use it as a foot stool the top is removed from the top members 15 and engaged on one of the members 15 and one of the members 16 the stool then being in a low position and resting on the other remaining members 15, 16. For use as a table the flexible top 17 is removed the stool turned to rest on one pair of crossed members 13 and an inverted tray placed in the other pair. The chair unit A may be used as a nursery chair by placing the stool B on the seat, fixing the bed end D as an enveloping frame and placing the tray in position. The unit X, Y may be used as a clothes horse.
