Abstract

657,743. Hot gas engines. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN. Oct. 3, 1946, No. 29505. Convention date, May 27, 1943. [Class 7(i)] In order to provide energy during overload periods a substance the melting point of which is slightly below the normal operating temperature of the heater material is provided in an enclosure within the wall of the heater. For example, the substance is located in an annular cavity provided in and concentric with the annular wall of the heater. The heater may be of bronze and the substance may be potassium iodide. Alternative substances are :- Aluminium, antimony and magnesium. The Specification includes a calculation showing how to calculate the amount of substance required to store a predetermined amount of energy.
