Abstract

A method of cooling a centrifugal rotor which is heated by gas friction when rotated at high speeds consists in providing the rotor with a temperature controlled cooling jacket and a protective casing and filling the spaces there-between with hydrogen at a reduced pressure; the distance between the casing and jacket being greater than the distance between the jacket and the rotor. Dimensions are given in the Specification.
