[Class 36] An electric cable comprises a pair of insulated conductors 1, 2 and a flexible metallic sheath 5 disposed around one of the insulated conductors and electrically connected to the other conductor. According to a modification, the cable may comprise a plurality of insulated conductors, all of which are enclosed in a metal sheath which is connected to one of the conductors either at one or both ends. The sheath is preferably connected to the negative or neutral lead so that if a metallic object penetrates the cable and touches one of the other conductors, a short circuit will result. The sheath may consist of a metallic gauze or braid and is enclosed within a flexible insulating cover 6.
