Abstract
656,792. Electrical musical instruments. COMPTON ORGAN CO., Ltd., J., BOURN, L. E. A. May 18, 1948, No. 13423. [Class 88 (ii)] In an electrical musical instrument, wherein the pitch of the notes is determined by the speed of rotation of rotary members 1, Fig. 1, a pitch tremolo is produced by a periodic variation in this speed of rotation. The rotary members 1 are driven by a motor 2 through a belt 3 kept at constant tension by a spring- loaded jockey pulley 6. The speed of rotation of the rotary members 1 is periodically varied by the action on the belt 3 of a second jockey pulley 7 whose axle 8 describes a circular path about the centre of a driving pulley 9. The mutual eccentricity of the two pulleys 7, 9, and hence the amplitude of the tremolo, may be varied by means of the screw 23 and slot 24. The pulley 9 is driven by a belt 11 which is moved, under the control of a stop key, to an adjacent coaxial idler pulley 13, Fig. 3, if no tremolo is required. Specifications 403,444, 433,050 and 448,193 are referred to.
