[Class 38 (i)] A connector comprising a ferrule portion for crimping on a wire and a contact tongue having an opening receiving a binding post or other fastening, has an abutment beside said opening adapted to take the clamping pressure of said fastening at a distance above the tongue at least equal to the height of the ferrule so that the latter may extend close to the fastening. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 3 the abutment comprises a tubular portion 18 drawn up from the tongue 10 around the opening therein, the upper end being flared to prevent locking on the fastening screw 20. The ferrule 12 comprises integral ears bent over by a die as, for example, in Specification 650,096. A number of such connectors may be integrally formed in a continuous strip for feeding into a machine applicator. In Fig. 6 the abutment 18 (a) is turned up from the outer periphery of the tongue and in this case does not extend through a full circle. The ferrule may be formed as in Fig. 8 by rolling inward a lateral extension 12b, the abutment being formed as in either of the previous embodiments. In all the embodiments both inner and outer peripheries may be turned up to form an annular channel-shaped abutment.
