[Class 36] The insulation in a flexible air space cable comprises a helically wound thread 2 of a chlorine-containing polymeride, such as polyvinyl chloride, which contains a percentage of softener such that, measured at a wavelength of from 50 to 200 metres at room temperature the dielectric losses are less than 100.10<SP>-4</SP>, a conductor 1 being located freely or locally supported within the thread 2. The cable is completed by a polyvinyl chloride foil 3, a metallic screen 4 and a cotton covering 5.
