Abstract

652,910. Bathing caps. HANSEN, P., and FRANKLIN & SONS, Ltd., J. G. Oct. 8, 1948, No. 26315. [Class 63] A bathing cap 1 which may be made of loaded, synthetic or pure rubber is provided with a separate internal brim 2 made of the same material or of vulcanized nearly pure rubber. The inner brim material is thinner and more elastic than that used for the outer cap proper so that it can expand radially to form a seal without producing undue pressure around the head of a wearer. The ring-shaped inner brim, which may be folded back on itself, may be made by seaming together one or more pieces of sheet material, by clipping, or by moulding. The upper edge of this inner brim may be fixed to the inside of the cap proper by rubber solution or by vulcanizing. A strengthening ring of rubber may be attached to the upper edge of the inner brim and also to the inside of the cap proper. The inner brim may be the free depending edge of a complete inner cap fixed by the crown portion to the inside of the cap proper.
