'[Class 110(ii)] [Also in Group XIII] The engine or compressor comprises one or more rotors 2 each carrying rocking vanes 8 having tip portions t which bear on the bore of an annular working chamber 21 and flattened portions f which co-act with one or more abutments 20. Lightening holes 30 cause the tip portions to be forced outwards under centrifugal force. A common rotor may have several working chambers and several' compression chambers, arranged axially, and may be used in a refrigeration apparatus. Each vane has axial extensions 35a which engage segmented-shaped grooves in end rings 35, 36, attached to the rotor 2. The vanes run with slight clearances between them and the stator bore. Where combustion gases are used in the engine part, the gases are filtered before being used. Covers 18, 19 may be provided with stuffing boxes. In Fig. 1 working fluid is admitted at a and exhausted through ports b. Fig. 4 shows a compressor 43 and engine 44 having six and five pistons respectively. The compressor, Fig. 5, has abutments 48, 49, 50 and fluid enters through passages 83 and is discharged through inclined passages 84. Operating fluid for the engine enters and leaves through similar passages 83, 84. Fig. 7 shows a plant with gas compressor 85 supplying a combustion chamber 88 and two engine rotors 86, 87 being driven by heated fluid supplied from a condenser 90 by means of a pump 91 through a pipe 92. Air and gas are supplied through pipes 94. Relative sizes of the engine parts are given in the Specification.
