Abstract

652,575. Cores for moulding hollow concrete beams. PRONK, W. Oct. 22, 1948, No. 27461. Convention date, Dec. 31, 1947. [Class 87 (ii)] A core comprises two gutter-shaped beams A, B, the beam A consisting of two symmetrically-formed angle beams 1, 1 and 2, 2 cormected together by longitudinal hinges 6 and the beam B being similarly formed by angle beams 3, 3 and 4, 4 and hinges 6<SP>1</SP>. The beam A has externally-bevelled edges 1<SP>1</SP>, 21 which are forced against, internally-bevelled edges 3<SP>1</SP>, 4<SP>1</SP> on the beam B by means of a wedge-beam 5, 5<SP>1</SP> which consists of two slidable wedges having interfitting tongue-and-groove formations. To collapse the core the wedgebeam is withdrawn, whereupon the angle beams 1, 1 and 2, 2 may be displaced into the dottedline position. The wedge-beam is slightly longer than the gutter beams. The core may be of wood externally lubricated with graphite.
