Abstract

1510198 Forming holes in cast concrete CATO INC 6 Aug 1975 32940/75 Heading E1S A tubular core 10 of, e.g. polyethylene, of tapered form and with longitudinal ribs e.g. 24 on its outer face, is employed to form holes in cast concrete objects. The taper is preferably about 3‹, allowing stacking of a number of cores. The core may be made effectively shorter by cutting it transversely and telescoping one section within the other, as in Fig. 5, with the ribs on the inner section contacting the wall of the outer section, as in Fig. 7. The ribs are preferably hollow to allow stacking (see Fig. 8), the internal groove angle preferably being about 40‹, compared with the 30‹ rib apex angle. The ribs could alternatively be rectangular, or the wall could be scalloped in plan.
